General Manager for Trillium Brewing Company

Trillium is an independent family-run hospitality business looking for an experienced General Manager to join our growing team!  At Trillium, we believe in the intuitive beauty of the natural New England landscape, the comfort of a wood fire, and the joys of sharing great food and beer.  We create space for people to share memorable experiences, pursuing our passions with integrity and a continuous drive to improve, innovate, and grow. The General Manager is a full-time leadership position that will work directly with the Vice President of Sales to ensure efficient operations in our beer garden facility. We are seeking an experienced, driven, and well-organized professional whose dedication and initiative will help propel Trillium to achieve its most important goals.

The General Manager is responsible for the performance of our entire beer garden location. This individual will oversee front of house operations to execute sales through the broader team. This position is part of a fast-paced work environment with a 7-day business cycle. Our ideal candidate is self-motivated, a strong leader, and has demonstrated success managing a bar environment.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

Fiscal Responsibility

  • Drive achievement of company objectives in sales and service; evaluate the market and identify areas of opportunity and refinement; explore opportunities to add value to business operations
  • Meet financial objectives by helping to develop annual operating budgets in conjunction with the finance team; create and implement appropriate controls in coordination with Finance department; analyze revenue and expense variances and initiate corrective actions
  • Responsible for all financial (invoices, reporting) and personnel/payroll related administrative duties, completed accurately and on time in accordance with Company policies and procedures
  • Prepare quarterly sales plan to include sales projections and action plans for review by the Vice President of Sales.

Sales and Planning

  • Work with Vice President of Sales to develop annual, quarterly, and monthly sales plans designed to achieve financial goals; coordinate execution of the plan with planning, logistics, and marketing departments for daily program deployment to include staffing levels, staff education, customer communication, and product readiness
  • Evaluate sales data, trends, and feedback to monitor sales for evaluating opportunities to boost sales and increase foot traffic
  • Review and standardize retail reporting to establish relevant benchmarks and customer service standards
  • Ensure flawless execution of event and programming strategy, resulting in the optimal customer experience


  • Lead, inspire, and educate employees to achieve their defined goals and results, consistently monitoring performance and creating development plans with the support of HR and Executive team to improve execution
  • Sustain optimal staffing levels to meet guest and production needs
  • Ensure proper management of all shifts, which includes daily decision-making, staff support, scheduling, and planning while upholding standards, product quality, and cleanliness
  • Inspire passionate team culture in support of consistent execution of Trillium's goals


  • Ensure all safety standards are maintained and protocols followed at all times; proactively address any safety concerns with the facilities department
  • Maintain the clean and efficient operation of the facility and equipment across all departments, upholding standards for quality, sanitation, and appearance
  • Coordinate with the Director of Facilities on any building or equipment preventative maintenance and repair
  • Liaise with Rose Kennedy Greenway Conservancy and outside service providers to adhere to the high standards of care for the grounds

Desired Qualifications and Abilities


  • Minimum of three years of experience in a dynamic, hospitality focused leadership role
  • High-volume bar leadership experience is a strong plus

  • Process and results driven leader with demonstrated success managing and achieving operational and financial goals
  • Ability to monitor performance and proactively propose necessary modifications to a plan
  • Exceptional organizational skills, detail-oriented with process-oriented thinking
  • Strong capacity to both lead and participate in cross-functional teams to define issues and agree on processes, strategies, and outcomes
  • PC skills, specifically Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint); experience with Toast and/or BevSpot a plus
  • A self-motivated approach, with strong work ethic, requiring limited oversight
  • Impeccable leadership and communication skills to a variety of audiences
  • Innate desire to work as a team with a results driven approach to success
